A Day in a Strange City with You

Sitting, sitting on the bed, awaken from the thunder
Wet and drizzling outside of the window
I watch from high above, the pedestrians…
underneath, hurrying to their destinations
As I sit lazily watch them, hurrying, hurrying…
At this busy hour of the day, while I sit
lazily, watching the rain and pedestrians…

Listening, listening to the click of the rice cooker…
Alert me to turn the gas on for the soup…
Bitsy, the cat jumps onto the bed and watch me…
If she bares any resemblance to my previous pet…
It would be the eyes…those curious eys…
Always wanting to know what is in my head…
While I want to know what is in hers…

Ticking, ticking the clock as it tells me to get up and out…
From this room to the kitchen and not drag my feet…
And today is not the day to rush in those wet streets
With busy cars, pedestrians shouting and talking…
Not that I understand them all,
so I rather stay in this quiet room…
Up, up from the bottom in this floor, rather smaller than before…

Waiting, waiting for the door to open…
You will hurry me out of my bed with the cat jumping to rush out
for a breath…outside of this apartment, while I smile and ponder
what the remain of the day is going to be like…
In this busy city, unfamiliar sky, and strange noises…
I watch and watch you with my curious eyes to see
what news you bring me this night…
